Garner and Zipser Present to OCBA on Ethical Pitfalls for Corporate Counsel

U/Z’s Scott Garner and Dean Zipser co-presented a sold-out program to the Corporate Law Section of the Orange County Bar Association (OCBA) on January 10, 2017 entitled “Managing Litigation: Ethical Pitfalls for Corporate Counsel.”  The program was geared for corporate counsel, and covered ethical issues that arise in or can impact litigation, including conflicts of interest, privilege issues, email snafus, and e-discovery pitfalls.

Scott represents clients in a wide array of complex business litigation matters with a particular focus on professional liability disputes and ethics counseling.  He currently serves as an officer (Secretary) of the Orange County Bar Association and as Co-Chair of the OCBA Professionalism and Ethics Committee and as Co-Chair of the OCBA Civility Task Force.  From 2010-2016, he was a member of the California State Bar’s Committee on Professional Responsibility and Conduct, serving as Chair of that Committee in 2014-15.

Dean is known for his handling of large, complex, and “bet-the-company” cases, from pre-trial consulting, through pre-trial, trial, and appeal.  His civil business litigation practice includes complex matters in intellectual property, consumer class actions, contract, business torts, fiduciary duty, real estate, construction, environmental, and lender liability.  Dean is currently co-vice chair of the California State Bar, Rules Revision Commission.  The Commission is evaluating the existing California Rules of Professional Conduct and proposing significant revisions to those rules.
