Umberg/Zipser Partner Scott Garner Becomes 2020 President of the Orange County Bar Association

Umberg/Zipser LLP (U/Z) is pleased to announce that partner Scott B. Garner was sworn in as the Orange County Bar Association’s (OCBA) 2020 President at the organization’s annual Judges Night and Annual Meeting held January 16, 2020.

Scott also serves on the Board of Directors for the OCBA Charitable Fund (OCBACF), and as co-chair of the OCBA Professionalism and Ethics Committee. He joined OCBA as a member in 1992 and became a member of the Board of Directors in 2011. As a partner with U/Z, Scott represents clients in complex business litigation matters, with a particular focus on professional liability disputes and ethics counseling. He also frequently serves as an expert witness on legal ethics and standard of care issues.

“I am honored to serve as 2020 President of the OCBA. Among our goals will be to study and implement changes making the OCBA more attractive to younger generations of lawyers, while still keeping the strong foundation that has led us to be one of the largest voluntary bar associations in the nation. I look forward to serving alongside such a dedicated Board to further the mission of this great organization,” says Scott.

In addition to Scott’s leadership role, Umberg/Zipser Partner Mei Tsang was again sworn in to serve on the Board of Directors of both the OCBA and the OCBACF. Mei also co-chairs OCBA’s Diversity Committee.

Scott’s and Mei’s elections are part of a long history of service by the firm’s lawyers to the OCBA. Umberg/Zipser co-founding partner Dean J. Zipser, for example, is a former OCBA President and a recipient of the OCBA’s highest honor, the Franklin G. West Award, in recognition of his achievements that have advanced justice and the law.
