Tom Umberg Elected as California State Senator for the 34th District

Umberg/Zipser (U/Z) is pleased to announce that co-founding partner Thomas J. Umberg has been elected to the California State Senate 34th District.

In his role as State Senator and one of the few practicing lawyers in the legislature, Tom will serve the citizens of the 34th District, which encompasses various parts of Los Angeles County and Orange County. Prior to being elected, Tom was a U.S. Army Colonel, Federal Prosecutor and U.S. Drug Czar under President Bill Clinton. During his term, Tom will remain a key member of the Umberg/Zipser team.

Tom is a seasoned trial lawyer who has successfully tried over 100 cases to verdict or judgment, combined with extensive experience in the public sector. He is active in the community and serves on the board of the National Association of Drug Court Professionals and is Chair of the Veterans Treatment Court Committee. During his military career, Tom served in Korea and Afghanistan, was awarded the Bronze Star and served as a JAG officer trying felony cases and attacking corruption. He has been selected as a “Best Lawyer” for the prestigious publication “The Best Lawyers in America®” in Commercial Litigation for 11 consecutive years.
